How real can film be?
I asked myself the questions "How realistic is film?" and "Why don't they show the most basic parts of life in movies?". Everything that is irrelevant to a story is left out because it would make the content boring or maybe even weird and awkward.

For this project I challenged myself to find a form of film that feels real, almost as if you are there.

I devised a set-up that creates the impression that you are standing between people talking to each other. It consists of three parts.
The first is a fight between a mother and daughter.
The second is a couple awkwardly staring, laughing and talking to each other.
The third is live footage of people on Skype that can see you and conversate with you.

This video is the test version of the mother-daughter conflict, which is why the daughter does not verbally respond. I created it to see if it would work to see both reactions on separate screens at the same time.
The final videos were shot with two cameras at the same time which made it easier to improvise and respond to each other, making the conversation more realistic and natural.
