Look at you
I started out with my fascination for how a lot of people look at their own reflection when walking past windows or other reflecting surfaces.
This "cube" is an experiment to provoke that reaction from people passing by.
The idea was to make an object that grabs people’s attention and invites them to go and have a closer look. In doing so, they are confronted with their own reflection. When they look through, or beyond the reflection, they can see the lamp inside with the words "LOOK AT YOU LOOK AT YOU", telling them just what it is they are experiencing.
To achieve my goal, I made the cube fairly large, approximately 1x1x1,5 meters. It is constructed of a metal frame with plexiglass windows on all sides. The windows are coated with a reflective yet translucent foil. The lamplight combined with the text and the use of reflective materials, creates a sense of endless reflection.
